automotive lift inspection with a tablet using liftspec

How can automotive lift inspections be made more time efficient?

Technology has revolutionized not only how we work but how we live our very lives. From tablets to home automation systems, technological advancements have changed the way we look at living! One of its biggest contributions has been the ability to share information and manage time better. Automotive lift inspection is no exception to this! Technology is ingratiating itself very rapidly in this industry as well. Today, we will be talking about our Automotive Lift Inspection Software. In Laurie Anderson’s words, it is going to be “the campfire around which we tell our story”!

At LiftSpec, we believe in communicating with all you lift inspectors on a regular basis, in order to truly understand how we can make lifting inspections more efficient for you. Through our blogs on automotive lift inspection softwares, we have tried to highlight the trends that are being adapted by many lift inspectors. During our talks, we realized that time efficiency was one of the concerns. Many inspectors believe that the traditional paper lift inspection sheets are the way to go. Claiming they are easy, convenient and time saving. We would like to present an alternative point of view.

Consider this. You conduct 5-10 lift inspections at each location. For every inspection, you need to write customer information again and again. If it takes you about  3 mins to record all the customer information for each lift, for 10 such lifts you invest  30 mins of your time only repeating information on your lift inspection sheets. That’s 30 minutes of your time that can be utilized elsewhere! Moreover, each time you go back to this customer, you have to write the same information all over again for another 10 times. And this is just one customer. We invite you to calculate the number of customers you visit and the total number of lifts you inspect for each of them every day!

Here is where the story takes a turn for better. The LiftSpec application already includes the ability to import a customer file from excel. With this feature, you can ensure time and data accuracy compared to manually inserting information like shop name, address, contact person and email. Select the customer name and all fields will automatically populate. Just a few seconds and your task is done.

This lifting inspection software offers a few other time saving opportunities to you all as well. A certified automotive lift inspection reporting process requires some level of formatting after the on site lift inspection is completed. If you are using a paper automotive lift inspection checklist, then you are most likely not including images and videos. This is usually handled separately over an email. This takes time. On an average, 1-2 hours of additional formatting per inspection, sometimes even higher. If you have developed a form on Excel or an editable PDF, you still need to import, save, format and comment on pictures individually. This also runs you a minimum of 1-2hrs per lift inspection or higher. Are you including video? This complicates the lift inspection process further.

Our solution eliminates the need to perform additional work on your inspection report after you leave the site. Answer the built in questions as you flow through your inspection gathering pictures, video and signatures with your tablet or smartphone’s built in features. Once you’re done, the auto lift inspection report is automatically compiled and ready for submission in a PDF or Word format.
